SoCal Cantina

May 4, 2016

SoCal Cantina is a California Style “taqueria” with a very simple menu. This taco spot offers some great appetizers, simple (yet very tasty) tacos, and amazing drinks and drink specials. Their Happy Hour (Everyday, 4 PM – 8 PM) offers $5 margaritas and $3 tacos and their Bottomless Brunch (Sundays, 12 PM -6 PM) is unrivaled offering unlimited Champagne, Bellini’s, Mimosas, and Margaritas AND an entree for $25-$30.

SoCal Cantina Favorites:

Our favorite taco on the menu had to be the San Diego taco: filled with slow-cooked carnitas, and topped with avocado, onion/cilantro mix, and queso fresco. This simple taco is packed full of juicy meaty flavor and ready in no time. If you want something to snack on while enjoying one or two of the many delectable drinks on their menu, we suggest ordering the Bean Dip… refried beans with chunks of bacon (what more could you want?). We really couldn’t get enough of the stuff, it’s absolutely delicious and a must have!

While planning your visit you definitely can’t forget to order one of their delicious tequila cocktails! We tried their Gardner’s Margarita (pictured below) which has serrano peppers mixed into it and is topped with a slice of Red Bell Pepper! It definitely wasn’t spicy, but it sure did have a nice kick to it. If you’re not feeling so adventurous, go for the very refreshing and sweet Summer Peach. Made with fresh peach puree and lemon juice, poured over iced tea.

The menu at SoCal Cantina does not have actual gluten-free designations. However, the staff is very knowledgeable about gluten, and will be able to guide you if you need any help or have any questions. They serve homemade corn tortillas for the majority of their tacos and the Bean Dip and Guac have no added flour or gluten-containing ingredients. Be weary of the corn chips as they are fried in a non-dedicated fryer; cross contamination exists although minimal.
