Ah, the grilled cheese sandwich… one of America’s greatest accomplishments. There are few things simpler and tastier than melted American Cheese wedged between two slices of bread, buttered and grilled to perfection. For Celiacs and the gluten-intolerant crowd, this is something that we’ve had to forget about… until now! Ms. Cheezious is now able to offer gluten-free sandwiches* using Cusano’s Bakery‘s daily made gluten-free bread!**
Located in the Upper East Side (by the Miami Design District), the grilled cheese mecca, Ms. Cheezious, started a single one food truck in 2010, then opened a second truck, and finally expanded to a brick and mortar. With over 25 years of experience in the restaurant business, founder and owner, Brian Mullins, started this venture because of his love for the art of the grilled cheese sandwich. He says it is “the perfect food for people of all ages and it is great for all occasions.” They came up with the name Ms. Cheezious “as a play on the word mischievous as [they] were creating a more playful and daring twist on grilled cheese and was a great match for the pin up girl logo.”
On their menu, you can find a variety of cheeses and a large array of toppings to build your own grilled cheese sandwich. There are also preselected combinations which they consider “must-haves” like the Grilled Blue & Bacon (pictured below) and the Smoked Turkey. Ms. Cheezious has perfected the simple concept of a “Grilled Cheese” and has taken it to the next level! (The Gluten-Free bread is available on the food trucks as well as the brick and mortar).

In the coming year, Ms. Cheezious plans to open another location in the Miami area but in the meantime, you can find one of their food trucks here. You can also enjoy their beautiful restaurant which houses a rustic bar with local beers and gluten-free angry orchard cider along with a patio offering outside seating, board games, and even cornhole!
*There is an extra $2 charge for gluten-free bread from Cusano’s Bakery.
** The kitchen uses a completely separate cutting board, preparation area, and even an exclusive gluten-free pan for grilling the sandwiches. Let them know if you have a serious food allergy and they are more than willing to completely sanitize the area so there is no risk for cross-contamination. None of the sides are gluten-free as they do not have a dedicated fryer and they use flour to thicken their soups, their bechamel sauce, and their chili.
